Vehicle crashes into power pole, closes Highway 3A TMTV/BCTV Kootenays - Jan 13 An early morning crash near 6 mile in the three thousand block of Highway 3A closed the highway for a short time this morning. A van driven by a single occupant smashed into a power pole bringing down powerlines and trapping the man until rescue crews arrived. City of Nelson Electrical crews have been on scene all moring to repair the lines and replace the pole which was sheared off in the accident. The driver of the van was taken to Kootenay Lake Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The highway is now open to single lane traffic. It is unknown at this time what caused the accident.
