Trans-Canada reopened after crash TMTV/BCTV OCT 11 -A BC Ambulance Service spokesperson has confirmed that a pickup truck with four human and six animal passengers collided with a semi-trailer just before noon.  The tractor and reefer unit subsequently jackknifed, blocking the highway. The four occupants of the pickup truck were treated for injuries and transported to hospital. Revelstoke BCAS Acting Chief Aaron Meland said that none of the four suffered life threatening injuries.  The driver of the tractor-trailer was not injured.

The plant can cause blindness if the sap gets in your eyes. The Nelson City Police said the cub will be relocated. So far there has been no serious direct human conflict but officials want to stress the importance of placing your garbage in a secure place. BEAR CAPTURED 11:30PM Sept 13, 2010 - A bear has been captured in one of several traps set up in the Nelson area by Conservation Officers. A grizzly with three cubs has been roaming the area for the past few weeks. There is no confirmation at this time whether it is one of the grizzlies.

MVA CRASH NORTH OF NELSON   TMTV/BCTV 12am Sept 11, 2010 - A single vehicle accident has claimed a life this morning. The east bound vehicle hit a pole in the 1000 block of Highway 3A, then crashed through a concrete bearer and went 50 feet down an embankment and landed in a driveway. The vehicle narrowly missed a home. RCMP, the coroner, fire and ambulance crews were on scene.

Grizzly Bears in Nelson's Rosemont area TMTV/BCTV - A grizzly and three cubs are roaming the streets and golf course in the Rosemont area of Nelson BC. A grizzly with cubs is a huge safety concern in urban areas. Conservation Officer Len Butler says shooting the bears has become a possible option but he will consider capturing them. The bears have been attracted to garbage and fruit trees and officials have been going door-to-door telling everyone in the area to please remove the fruit from trees and place your garbage in a secure area. The latest possible sighting was Thursday evening in the Perrier Road area, east of the Granite Point Golf Course.

Motorcyclist injured in crash A motorcyclist is lucky to be alive after crashing his bike into the ditch 40 km west of Revelstoke.  At 1:45 p.m. on August 30, 2010, a 53 year old man from Kelowna, BC was riding a 2007 Harley Davidson west bound on Hwy. 1.  An east bound pilot car was stopping west bound traffic which according to witnesses was rather abrupt.  The cyclist swerved to avoid the vehicle in front of him and ended up hitting the ditch.  The kickstand of the bike punctured his leg and cut into his femoral artery.  People at the scene administered first aid until the paramedics arrived and transported him to Queen Victoria Hospital.  No charges have been laid in this matter but the collision is still under investigation.

Hwy crash near Revelstoke claims one life The Revelstoke RCMP attended to a two vehicle motor vehicle accident that occurred on the Trans Canada Highway near the Peaks Lodge, Revelstoke, BC. last week. Investigation has shown that a GMC Sierra attempted to make an unsafe pass on another vehicle. The GMC Sierra collided with the Ford and rolled down an embankment. Both occupants were taken to Queen Victoria Hospital with severe injuries. UPDATE: The driver of the GMC Sierra succumbed to his injuries at Royal Inland Hospital. His passenger is recovering well. Police are continuing their investigation with the Provincial Coroners service.

Forest Fire in Trail BC's industrial area  A forest fire near the Trail industrial park grew to 3 hectares in size. Airtankers laid retardant around the fire’s perimeter to help contain it. BC Forest Service firefighting personnel were called out Thursday evening to assist the local fire department near Waneta. The fire occurred near the Trail industrial park and quickly grew to 3 hectares in the windy conditions. The fire is currently under investigation.

Not Brotherly Love - RCMP Investigate Assault TMTV/BCTV On August 24, 2010, Castlegar RCMP responded to a disturbance/assault on Pass Creek road. Upon arrival, a 24 year old male was noted to be bleeding heavily from the head. He appeared to have been struck by a heavy object. He was transported to Trail hospital and then on to Kelowna when it was discovered he has a fractured skull. At this time, he is reported to be in "stable but serious" condition. Two Men Arrested at Outdoor Grow - TMTV/BCTV Nelson BC, Aug 20, 2010  2 men have been arrested after being found at an outdoor grow on Hwy 23 South.  After a month long investigation Revelstoke RCMP moved in on an outdoor grow last night (August 19) 40 kilometers south of Revelstoke.  The grow was on Crown land and it contained over 150 mature marihuana plant. The two males, aged 25 and 23, both from Revelstoke were taken into custody without incident and both will appear in Revelstoke Provincial Court in December to answer to the charges of production of a controlled substance.

52 Year Old Nelson Man Charged with Impaired Boating  From KBS Radio - Nelson BC, Aug 20, 2010 -  Police arrested a 52-year old Nelson man, said to be well known to them, for impaired operation of a vessel, and dangerous operation of a vessel. Police were called after a boater said his kids had to jump off their boat for fear of being struck by the suspects boat in a near miss incident. Injured mountain biker flown to Kelowna  (RCMP Update - Aug 16, 2010)  A 43 year old male from Edmonton was fortunately wearing a helmet and protective equipment when he crashed his mountain bike in the Give-out Creek area, south of Nelson BC.  The male was taken via helicopter to Kelowna General Hospital for medical treatment.  No further information on his current condition or the extent of his injuries is available. Initial reports from the RCMP indicated it was a 15 year old who had been injured.

FOREST FIRE NEAR NELSON UPDATE JULY 16, 2010 - BC Forest Service firefighters assisted the City of Nelson power line crews with a fire that ignited yesterday at approximately 3pm as a result of tree falling on a power line about 1.5km up the Kokanee Creek forest service road. The fire grew to ½ hectare in size and was fought by three initial attack crews and was quickly contained a few hours later. Today, two initial attack firefighters are mopping up the fire. The fire did not threaten any buildings or structures.

Man's Body Found July 6, 2010 - The body of a missing canoer has been found in the Kettle River. Fourty four year old Dimitri Kolodka of Grand Forks went missing last June 12th while canoeing with a friend on the Kettle River. Foul play is not suspected.

Kimberly Ruth Noyes Trial Starts Monday

TMTV For Global TV & CBC TV  Kimberly Ruth Noyes, charged with second-degree murder in the death of 12-year-old John David Fulton is going to trial on Monday July 5th.  Noyes, 42, was formally charged with killing Fulton, who was autistic and whose body was found in her Grand Forks, B.C., townhouse Aug. 17, 2009. The trial started today in Rossland BC and is expected to last two weeks.

Body of missing man recovered Nakusp B.C. July 1, 2010 - Arrow Lakes Search and Rescue along with the RCMP were able to recover the body and identify the man as Billy Coffman. Coffman had gone missing in the early morning hours on June 9 after he was said to have lost his footing and fell into the Kuskanax River around the bridge on Highway 23. An initial search of the area that lasted for days turned up nothing. The B.C. Coroners Office in Penticton will be assisting in the investigation to find the exact cause of death.

Castlegar Teen Drowned  TMTV/BCTV - June 28 - The autopsy of 19 year old Castlegar resident Zachary Larsen has concluded, the teen died by drowning. There is no indication of foul play but the investigation is continuing. Larsen disappeared after spending an evening with friends at a Castlegar night club on June 6, his body was found two weeks later on June 21 in the Columbia River. If you have any information regarding Mr. Larsen, please contact the Castlegar RCMP.

TMTV NEWS AIRING ON GLOBAL TV @ NOON, 5PM, 6PM & 11PM THURSDAY The former Silver Ledge Hotel in Ainsworth BC burned to the ground this morning. The fire stared next to the hotel in a trailer which was quickly destroyed by the fire and then spread to the former hotel. Kaslo Fire Department and other emergency agencies arrived on scene but could not save the old hotel. It burned to the ground shortly after. The hotel was built in 1896 and was being  used as museum. At this time fire officials don't know what started the fire but the investigation will continue.

A SAD DAY IN AINSWORTH BC The Silver Ledge Hotel in Ainsworth B.C. built in 1896 after a fire had destroyed the town earlier that year. It was used as a hotel until 1949. After being closed for 14 years it was then purchased by two Calgary families and used as a “summer cottage”. During the 60s and 70s cosmetic and structural restoration produced local interest in the building and historical research. It then became a museum in 1976, holding many of the local artifacts, photos and other memorabilia which was all destroyed in the fire.

Body found had been there for months Feb 15, 2010 - Revelstoke RCMP say they have found the body of a unidentified adult male on Mount Mackenzie, and say that the body appears to have been there "for some months." RCMP Staff Sgt. Jacquie Olsen says that a local resident was hiking on the mountain on Feb. 11 when he located "what he believed to be human remains." RCMP say they were working with the BC Coroners Service to establish a cause of death. UPDATE: FEB 16 - Edward Kenneth SAGE, aged 42, from Hussar, Alberta died in the avalanche which occurred on February 14th, 2010.

Jeep hits two girls on toboggan in Cranbrook, BC  Jan 21, 2010 - 11PM Two 11-year-old girls in Cranbrook, B.C., were hit by a Jeep Thursday when they slid down a hill on a toboggan and onto a road, police said.  The two girls were taken to East Kootenay Hospital and then flown to Vancouver Children's Hospital with serious injuries. The accident happened in a semi-rural area in the 2000-block of 25th Street South. The girls had been sliding down a hill on a private property and then crossed onto a public road, police said. The 26-year-old driver was unable to stop. Road conditions at the time were icy.
