Erratic driving leads to another drug seizure

TMTV/BCTV Kootenays - RCMP -July 7, 2010 - Another driving infraction has lead to a seizure of over 5 pounds of marihuana.  On July 5th, 2010, just after 1:00 a.m. an officer was patrolling the Trans Canada Highway, 7 kilometers east of Revelstoke when he observed a vehicle tailgating another vehicle.  As the officer passed the vehicle he noted that the vehicle was only operating its fog lights, the headlights were not on.

When police caught up with the vehicle it had been abandoned on the side of the road and it was believed that the driver fled into the bush.  A search of the vehicle located over 5 pounds of dried marihuana in the trunk. A police dog was called in for assistance but the male suspect walked out of the woods before the dog was on scene.  

The 17 year old driver from Red Deer, Alberta and a 22 year old man from Penhold, Alberta believed to be associated with the driver are now facing charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking and they will appear in Revelstoke Provincial Court in October.
