Serious motor vehicle collision near Yahk BC

TMTV/BCTV Kootenays - July 12, 2010 Early this morning at 6:47am, police officers from the Creston RCMP, the East Kootenay Traffic Services Section, and two Collision Reconstructionists attended a two vehicle collision on Highway 3/95 in Yahk, BC. The preliminary investigation has revealed that a small S.U.V was traveling westbound when it crossed the center line and collided with an eastbound mini van.

Several occupants were trapped and were removed from the vehicles with the assistance of the BC Ambulance Service from both Creston and Cranbrook, along with fire fighters from Creston Fire Rescue and the Yahk-Kingsgate Fire Department. Occupants of the mini van were transported to the Creston Valley Hospital with non life threatening injuries, and the occupants of the S.U.V were transported to East Kootenay Regional Hospital with serious injuries, however they are not believed to be life threatening.

The incident remains under investigation.
